Signal Inn Pet Policy

Welcome, Four-Legged Guests!

At Signal Inn, we know pets are part of the family. We are proud to welcome them to our pet-friendly beachfront resort on Sanibel Island.

These guidelines help us provide a safe, clean and relaxing experience for every guest—both two-legged and four-legged. By bringing a pet to Signal Inn, guests agree to follow this policy throughout their stay.

Pet Requirements

  • A maximum of two pets is permitted per unit.
  • Pets must be current on all required vaccinations.
  • By bringing a pet to Signal Inn, guests certify that the pet is properly vaccinated and free from contagious illness.
  • Aggressive pets or pets that present a safety concern are not permitted.

Leash Requirements

For the safety of our guests, pets and local wildlife:

  • Pets must remain on a leash no longer than six feet whenever they are outside the guest unit and on Signal Inn property.
  • Pets may not roam freely anywhere on the property.
  • Pets must remain under the control of a responsible adult at all times.
  • Retractable leashes are not permitted on Signal Inn property.

Dogs are allowed on Sanibel’s public beaches but must remain attended and on a leash no longer than eight feet, as required by the City of Sanibel. Using a six-foot, non-retractable leash throughout your stay will satisfy both Signal Inn’s property rule and the city’s beach requirement.

Pet-Waste Cleanup

Pet owners must:

  • Clean up after their pets immediately.
  • Properly dispose of all pet waste in designated receptacles.
  • Use the pet-waste stations located throughout the property.

Please carry waste bags whenever walking your pet, even if you plan to remain close to your unit.

Courtesy to Other Guests

Signal Inn is known for its peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. Please help us preserve it by ensuring your pet does not disturb other guests.

  • Excessive barking or other disruptive behavior is not permitted.
  • Pets may not threaten, chase or interfere with guests, staff members or other animals.
  • Guests are responsible for any damage, additional cleaning or other costs resulting from their pets.
  • This responsibility includes damage to the unit, furnishings, landscaping, common areas or another guest’s property.
  • Signal Inn reserves the right to require the removal of any pet that creates an ongoing disturbance, causes damage or presents a safety concern.

Unattended Pets

Pets should not be left unattended in guest units. If it is necessary to leave a pet for a short period, the pet must be safely secured in a crate or kennel and must not create excessive noise or disturb other guests.

If an unattended pet becomes disruptive or an emergency requires access to the unit, Signal Inn reserves the right to enter the unit as permitted under resort policies and applicable law. Guests are responsible for any resulting damage, additional cleaning or other applicable charges.

Beach and Wildlife Protection

Sanibel Island is home to unique and protected wildlife. Please help us preserve the island’s natural environment by:

  • Keeping pets leashed and under control.
  • Cleaning up after pets immediately.
  • Staying outside posted wildlife-protection areas and sea turtle nesting zones.
  • Never allowing pets to chase or disturb birds, turtles or other wildlife.
  • Keeping pets away from ponds, canals, marshes and other areas where wildlife may be present.
  • Following all posted rules and applicable City of Sanibel and Lee County regulations.

Pool and Spa Area

Pets are not permitted on the pool deck or in the pool or spa. This restriction does not apply to service animals where access is required by applicable law, although service animals may not enter the water.

Inside Your Vacation Rental

To help us maintain clean and comfortable accommodations:

  • Please keep pets off beds and upholstered furniture.
  • Rinse or wipe sand, saltwater and dirt from your pet’s paws before entering the unit.
  • Do not use resort linens or towels to clean or dry pets.
  • If housekeeping or maintenance service is scheduled, the pet must be safely secured or removed from the unit before staff members enter.
  • Guests are responsible for excessive cleaning or damage caused by their pets.

Service Animals

Signal Inn welcomes trained service animals in accordance with applicable law. Service animals are not considered pets. However, handlers remain responsible for supervising and controlling their service animals and for any damage they cause.

Guest Acknowledgment

By booking a pet-friendly stay at Signal Inn, the registered guest acknowledges and agrees to follow this Pet Policy and accepts responsibility for their pet’s behavior, supervision and any resulting damage or additional cleaning.
